Our Mission
Founded in 1950 by a group of parents of children with developmental delays, The Arc has responded to the changing needs of our community—Alameda County.
The Mission of The Arc of the East Bay is to provide advocacy, support, and education to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout Alameda County. We will achieve this by promoting our Vision and Core Values.
Who We Are . . .
The Arc of the East Bay is a non-profit organization committed to helping people with intellectual and developmental challenges lead rich, fulfilling lives by empowering them to fully utilize their abilities and community resources. Meaningful opportunities to grow and learn are provided through a variety of programs. Participation is based on the individual’s informed choice.
Who We Serve . . .
We serve over 500 individuals with mild to profound disabilities. With seven program sites and dozens of community placements, we have a presence in every city and town in Alameda County. Adults (18+) can participate in vocational or life skills training, employment development, computer workshops, and more.
